Dear David,
It is of great pleasure for me to write to you this letter. I hope you had a pleasant journey back home, and that you found your family well and good. We are otherwise fine, myself and family.
It was a memorable evening to [crossed out: rember] remember for a very, very long time. I recall that Saturday evening when Mr. Burns brought you along to Soweto to meet the "Inn Club." You might not recall who I am. But you will be able to remember the guy you had a long discussion with, that evening. I introduced myself as working for POLAROID. At the end of our discussion I asked you what message you can give us. My name is Enoch Thapelo Hlongwane
I also recall the evening at Dorkay House when you gave a talk on art, and a slide demonstration as well. It was an eye opener for us Blacks. Such discussions are not presented to Blacks

Simply because Art is not offered as a course to Black South Africans. We were very delighted to hear such a spirited [crossed out: sep] talk from one of our black brothers from the States. We are really proud of you, and other blacks like you. I hope that you will take the first opportunity when it ever comes to pay us a visit again. Who knows one day I might find myself in America, and I will be very much delighted to meet you. I also hope that one day we will be able to get offers of bursaries [inserted above: & scholarships] from American Universities which will enable Black South Africans to study fine Art.
We are eagerly looking forward to more of such visits like the one you undertook. There more we have these come-togethers with our fellow black-Americans, the more it will be easier for us to help one another.
Do you by any chance know the Postal address of Mr. Jim Baker the black Diplomat [crossed out: you] who is coming over to Pretoria. If you do send me his address. Hoping to hear from you
Best regards from my kids and wife. I am, yours Faithfully Enoch Thepelo Hlongwane

P. S. Are you going to be in residence through November and December at your Falmouth address? If so, would you please call us and give us your telephone number? If I am not here, you can leave the message with the Department Secretary, Mrs. Yanok.
Our lecture room projection booth contains two large projectors for the standard size slides (3 1/4 x 4) and two projectors for the small slides 2 x 2 (35 mm.), allowing pairs of slides to be shown simultaniously on two screens side by side. Large and small slides can be intermixed. My guess, however, is that you will show mainly the small size, which is quite all right.

Dear Lola,
How's that for a start; How are you Me I'm just fine, except the nostalgia I experience when ever I thing about the W Johnstone Art Exhibition and of course seeing the pictures that I must say are beautiful! Shots and every body that was in your exhibiton (talk) and had the Photographs taken are making orders for their own shots to treasure them. I wonder would it be any difficult to send me the shot you took with me in front of my house in Guguletu. - remember? Might you intended making slides out of the whole trip. I would [crossed out] gladly appreciate if you can send a copy to me so that I can treasure it. How did Petronella recieve the news that her mother and friends did a "Shindig" for you and the Singing Oh! it was wonderful Something on that one cannot out-live. Greetings to your family May you have a prosperous Xmas with God's lovin Greetings from the gang. TST. Sient (?) good-)bye S
