23 Sept 1974 Dear David: I have your Aug 18th letter here and I know how it feels to look over the summer as a "Loss" but no doubt the school year was harder on you than you realized and you needed this summer to REST! I hope your summer (Now (?)) feels good to you. (Please excuse my "writing" which has not yet returned to its "normal" self! I try writing everyday but, while its come back alot it has a LONG way to go!) I decided to try to teach a course - "Chinese Calligraphy" for beginners - with Dr. Tennyson Chang (?) - have finished one week: 2 hrs every afternoon 4 days a week -

2. Wednesday afternoons for Faculty Meetings (I go to my doctor on Wed. PM.)

So - while my feeling hasn't yet all returned to my left arm & leg (and writing) I feel Very Lucky to be alive and giving teaching a try! I'm doing well I think & still intend to do the books! Do you have anything I could use? ARMISTED II sounds Very Good - but I'm doing little til my strength comes back!

You had a fine sounding summer (even 'tho you didn't get as much painting & drawing done as you expected! MAY this year be good for you - not too full of demands on your extrodernary creative energies!

3. The Book (idea) iSN'T too Late! (Mainly because of my wreck & the slowness of my full recovery. I definitely want one book to be from you - Maybe I can phone you & we can talk it over?! Whats your home (& School) phone? (Also talk some of Armistad II because I hope to have it down here at the School Gallery!!!) (We have alot of both black & white students who could gain MUCH from seeing it!) HURAAH! Is all I want to say! Have you by any chance seen or talked to Thelma Watson? I'd love to keep in touch with her. Hope all is going well for her ...
