Professor David C. Driskell Chairman of the Department of Art Fisk University Nashville, Tennessee 37203
Dear Professor Driskell:
I love your book Two Centuries of Black American Art. As I read it I can hear your distinctive voice coming from the pages. I think it is a definitive work because of the very careful research you have put into it. I hope it will be a big success. I was glad to see our university book center had stocked fifteen copies which is quite unusual.
I attended an oral history conference at Fisk several years ago. I will never forget the splendid illustrated lecture you gave on the Melrose Plantation in Natchitoches, Louisiana and Clementine Hunter. I have cited information I gained from your talk on many occasions.
Again congratulations and all best wishes for the future.
Sincerely,
Wendell Wray Professor Assistant to the Dean
