Mr. David Driskell [blacked out area]
Dear David:
I enjoyed very much chatting with you recently, and I need to thank Coni for making the introduction. We had talked about the formation of the Advisory Board for the African-American Research Library adn Cultural Center (AARLCC) and I just wanted to follow-up that conversation. We are still in the process of developing the structure, responsibilities, etc. of the board and a formal letter inviting you to serve, along with a document about the board, will be forthcoming.
However, the real occasion for this letter is to tell you about one of those "6 degrees of separation." I have recently exchanged correspondence with Eugene Grigsby. While looking through the catalog, I noticed you had written an essay for the catalog. I grew up in Phoenix, AZ (born in Flagstaff) and attended Carver High School where Dr. Grigsby was the art instructor. Of course, at the time and, in fact, for many years after, I had no idea about the accomplishments of Dr. Grigsby. I expect to see him in May and will advise him of our meeting.
Sincerely,
Sam [signature] Samuel F. Morrison Director

Dear Dr. Driskell, It has been a long time since the last time I wrote you. I hope that you still remember me. Anyway I just wanted to give you an update on what I've done since graduating from UM in 95., I recently graduated with an M.F.A. from the University at Albany. It was an amazing experience. I learned so much from being in grad school. Currently I am working at the National Gallery of Art. I have met so many people who know you or have met you in some way. Anyway I have been sending my portfolio to several galleries. (in Santa Fe, Boston and New York. I hope to hear from you soon. Take Care Joseph Hass (?)
