DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES:
I. Campus Services: The clinic offers services to the entire
Fisk family -- including students, faculty, and staff. These
services include:
a. Hearing Examinations -- pure-tone screening test and
pure-tone hearing threshold test both by air conduction
and bone conduction. Auditory Speech Sound Discrimination
Test -- to determine one's ability to distinguish between
different speech sounds, both in quiet and in the presence
of background noise.
b. Articulation Testing
c. Voice Testing
d. Oral Examination
e. Therapy -- articulation, voice, stuttering, diction, and
pronunciation
f. Other Services -- recording of voice for self-analysis;
voice control for speechmaking; tutorial -- class speeches,
dramatic presentations.
All evaluations and therapy sessions are by appointment.
II. Community Services: Clinical services are offered to the
community. This is accomplished through the Meharry Community
Mental Health Center -- in diagnostic procedures; and Hillcrest
Day Care Center -- diagnosis and therapy. These services
include:
a. Complete Hearing and Speech Evaluations
--Pure-Tone Hearing Examination
--Articulation Test
--Language Examination -- PPVT
--Visual-Motor Integration Test
--Oral Examination
--Auditory Memory Span Test
--Goodenough-Harris Draw-A-Man
--Case History
b. Therapy -- articulation, stuttering, voice, language
These services are offered during the week and are scheduled
according to the student therapists' free time.
