Dear Mr. Driskell
It was a real pleasure to receive an invitation to preview the exhibition TWO CENTURIES OF BLACK AMERICAN ART. I was especially happy to learn of your lecture for I always enjoy hearing you. However, this time it seems impossible for Sunday, January 9th is George Washington Carver Day on our campus. Need I say more, for the day of activities will begin at 9:30 am and end about 8:30 pm.
Remember always that you have my respect and best wishes.
Sincerely,
/s/
Elaine Thomas

Dear Sir:
It has come to my attention that you have recently been awarded a federal grant to help pay for the publication of a catalog.
Last month I acquired the rights to represent Dai Nippon Incorporated. Dai Nippon is a Japanese printing house which specializes in high quality, four color separation at a price which, to the best of my knowledge, can not be met by any American competitor.
As a member of the academic community . . . (professor of humanities specializing in aesthetics and art appreciation) . . . I fully understand the important of high quality color and half-tone reproductions and could, I believe, do a good job of representing your interests.
If you have not yet decided on a printer, I would appreciate the opportunity to bid on your project.

Sincerely,

Miss Georgia O'Keeffe Abiquiu New Mexico 87510
My dear Miss O'Keeffe:
It has been a long time since we have corresponded, so I do hope that you are well and that your work is going well. My greatest hope during the past five years have been that I could write to you and say that the conservation work and framing of the Stieglitz Collection were over and invite you for the reinstallation of the collection.
Miss Bry informs me that her work load has been extremely difficult and has thus prohibited her from making the necessary plans to continue the conservation work beyond the current speed. We do have problems relating to the extension of the grant from the National Endowment for the Arts beyond its second expiration period.
The renovated space in the New Library which will house the collection, once the conservation work has been completed, is still available for the reinstallation. My dedication and love for the collection remain firm. I hope that all problems relating to its reinstallation shall be solved during this year as we have great hopes of reopening the collection to the University community and the general public this year. This would be the finest Bicentennial effort that we could make.
I would like very much to talk with you by phone as I am hopeful of being able to arrange for a visit with you at your convenience. Please allow me to hear from you at your earliest convenience.
Thanking you for all past courtesies, I remain
Very sincerely yours,
David C. Driskell Chairman
