[HABARI C'ANI &]

Dear Dr. Driskell

How are you and your family, we here in Dar-eS-Salaam are fine. All your friends send their greeting. I hope you had an enjoyable trip to Africa.

Did your grandson get alright? I certainly hope so.

While you were here here in Dar, we talked a little about you buying some artifax carvings for your Daughters Proposed Artifax shop. Did the shop materialize?

I am very interested in sending different types of artifax to people in the states so if you are interested maybe we can get some thing going. I have received some favorable committments from a few prople on the West Coast.

I am in the process of trying to organize a company here in Dar that will deal exclusively with exporting arts but I want to get as many firm committments as I can before I register the company or I will be starting with a limited amount of liquid cash.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know would be interested. My prices will be very reasonable since my main objective in the project is to earn foreign income for Tanzania and provide markets for the African artist.

Thank you in advance for any assistance that you may lend

Dear Mr. Driskell, How are you, family & Fisk? I and my little family are fine. We are now in Kansas City. I'll be going to the art institute for night classes in Jan. and I've been accepted for their summer semster. I'm looking forward to it. (smiles) I hear you're leaving Fisk. Where will you be going? I hope you will be happy where ever! I'm sorry I missed your lecture in L. A. But I was able to go to the exibit anyway. It was exciting! And my mind went on a journey into time & space. I felt warm in being able to utilise that that I had learned in Afro. American Art History Class. I even shared some of this knowledge with some of the other viewers. It was exciting!!! We probably won't be in Nashville, until Jan. or Feb. now, as money is funny. So I'm sending everything in this package. It's all here. I was unable to get a nice large

picture of the Kuduo bowl so I'm sending 4 snap shots. Also I wasn't able to locate Greenberg, Joseph H. The Languages of Africa 1963. I presum that both map questions 2-3 were found in there. So I used two other references and did the best I could using logic, etc... The sources are included among the list compiled of my sources for all the questions. No. 2 on the map section was in Gailey's book. At any rate, I'm sure everything else is in order and will recieve the upmost attention in grading. Especially since this exam was different than the others I had seen. Zdell (?) Mr. Driskell, take care of yourself. And may your path always be guided by the light of truth. It is a great source of strength. If it be the will of Allah we'll meet again. Send a line or two when you get a chance. Give my best wishes to your wife & family. Also to those in the dept. I miss you all! A'asalaamu alaikum, Sheryl zf(?) Knight
