Dear Mr. Driskell:
It was a delight to get your very encourging
letter and contents. I will not attempt to reply
fully at the Moment as I know you're busy.
You may not know that Miss Mary B. Brady
underwent an operation (according to Palmer Hayden)
in New York this week. I know that you will
want to look in on her before you return to
Fisk. Both you and I know that we would
be less able to do something with a Black Visual
art program if it had not been for M.B.B.
and the Harmon Foundation.
The enclosed Course Outline gives you
some idea of the year Course in Afro-American
Art that we expect to implement on the Merritt
College Campus during the next school year. I am
finally back (full time) on a College Campus. The
other experiences served to sharpen me for such a
necessary curriculum as Black Visual Arts. I will
share with you other details later, as I view Black
Art even in the studio courses of Drawing, Painting
Sculpture, Ceramics and the Graphic Arts.
I would like to join you as a panelist in Denver
in March, I believe that it could be arranged. I
am interested in Lois Jones' developing a Course
on Haitian artists. I feel that we could both
benefit by such material later.
We're anxiously awaiting your book.
Best wishes.
Sincerely,
Claude Clark
