Mr. David Driskell

Dear David Driskell:
I recieved your letter of November 5,TH
and you seem to have so much going on at
Fisk that I felt it important to write immediately.
I want you to know that I am appreciative
of your help, and the Confidence and faith that
you seem to have in what we're doing.
Keith Morrison wrote to me at your suggestion,
and may be by over the Xmas vacation period.
There has been so much interest and demand to
get Black Visual Art Courses started that I am having
more material memeographed on both the art
History Courses and proposed Studio (black) or
lab. Courses. Last week some black brothers from
Chicago Came into my office to get such material.
One remarked as he scanned one Outline: "Brother
you've just fired our art teacher." When asked to
explain his remark he admitted that the man Con-
Cerned was white and Could not handle Black Visual
Arts as he had no background. Then our president
Smith asked for Copies of the same Material to send
to Chicago. Will you tell me what's going on in
Chicago? Perhaps the artists from Illinois will know.
