Dear David Driskell, Just a hurried note to thak you for your letter of November 12th. I was glad to know that you saw Miss Brady and Palmer Hayden at the William H. Johnson Show. I've already heard from Palmer Hayden who explained that he hadn't seen Miss Brady in over a year. I suppose I'll hear from her if I catch her on the other end of the phone, or meet her like you did. I am satisfied that we must remember M.B.B. for her contribution, as we connot expect her to fully identify with what some of us feel that we must do in the future about Black Art. My son Claude Lockhart will meet Alice in Philly this Holiday season and I hope that he will also be successfull in recording the William H. Johnson show on slides. I will get off some additional material to you immediately after the Holidays. As soon as you can give the exact date of my show I can be more accurate about the titles of works. I also want to know how the paintings are to be shipped. At the moment it seems that I could come to Nashville on a Thurs. Eve and remain part of a week-end at the time of the exhibition. Best wishes for the holidays. Sincerely, Claude Clark

Dear David Driskell, Inclosed you will find some biographical material, a resume, photos of Claude Clark and 8x10 glass prints of some of the paintings that I shall send to you. I would like as many of the glossy prints returned as you can salvage. If you can use any of these for your catalog please indicate so that I will make sure to send that particular painting. I make this request only because I haven't decided exactly what paintings I'll be shipping. I expect to get the show off to you sometime in March. Let me know if the enclosed data is not adequate. Thanks for everything. Sincerely, Claude Clark

Dear David Driskell: I am sorry that you have had the flu, but glad that you're getting on top of your work again. The rest of us are O.K. here and busy as usual. Our son Claude Lockhart managed to go to the East Coast during the Holidays and returned with some good slides of the William H. Johnson show and the Elizabeth Catlett exhibtion in Harlem You may be aware that he did student teaching with me and for the past two years he has been teaching African and African American art at the California College of Arts and Crafts here in Oakland. I expect to come to Fisk by April 22ND and I hope to remain (?) at least until the 25TH. My wife feels that I should look into what is being done in Black Art at Fisk and the College and schools in the Nashville area. I want to get maximum milage out of my visit, so I'll be there for the opening and I want to visit your classes. Feel free to use any of the paintings in your possession to supplement or replace any of the work that I shall send. You may also select one of the paintings from the show for the Fiske Collection. I want to hear more about that Caribbean and European trips when I see you. Best wishes.
Sincerely, Claude Clark
