April-28-76 Hi Dave -- I visited the Bklyn Museum the other day -- they had a surpurb[sic] exhibition called -- Black South Africa Graphic Artist also some beautiful taperstrie (bad spelling) Great show! I talked to my friend there who is Director of Public Affairs but since she has been promoted I don't think she is in touch with policy -- I think its[sic] a ceremonial job. Anyway I didn't bring it up because I can always call her on the phone when I got something definite in mind. Got to write Sam Cliff (I don't know if I told you (I get confused) in what I write in one letter or another) Anyway Cliff wrote me about organnizing[sic] a graphic show to go over ther[sic] & also Cuba. I wrote and told I couldn't deal with it. I'm going to ask Bob Blackburn if he would want to deal with it. (The paintings for the new boys High School are still not on the wall due to the dispute bet-- the Contractors & Bd-of-Ed. I heard yesterday there[sic] somewhat comming[sic] to an understanding -- now they have to wait till the kids are out of the build. That may not be till the summer. Got catalog from Bhalla in mail (Caribberan)[sic] [Caribbean?] artist. Nice painting by Barrington Watson

Do you know him -- he lives on top a mountain in Jamaica -- We visited him last May (75) has a lovely spread. Right now just wrote letter to Bhalla -- had a show at (2 man) North Carolina A&T State University last Oct-Nov with Ceramics by Henry Michaux & now I have about 15 small paintings at Lumcestor College in N.C. Some Afro Am Festival. Made a couple of sales at the studio -- so I'm paying my rent. Got an invitation to John Rhoder's place -- Haven gotten there yet.

[redacted] Bklyn [redacted] NYC Nov. 24 -- 76 Dear Dave: As I'm about to depart tonight -- (Thanksgiving Eve) for Detroit -- I wish you & your family & all at Fisk a very beautiful one. I also would like to commend you for a very scholarly article in the Smithsonian Magazine. I found out the people at the State Office Building in Harlem have a very inferior committee of judges for the permanent collection. (no peers) Got a letter from somebody who resign from the committee. Will try when I get back to see if we can effect some change. Otherwise it will be like (Vincent)'s Building (CIA[?]) on 125 St. Got letter from Walt & Cliff. Cliff say's[sic] they -- he & Margory Cropper & some others (not Walt) are suppose to be in Logas[Vegas?] on January 5. On our end here just chores[?] -- Keep well Love Vince & Cynthia

Also at some point I want to discuss with you how one goes about having & what one does on a cultural trip of Africa -- thinking maybe about writing Andy Young. Just an idea -- If anyone else decides to donate something of mine -- I'll be sure to try to get it to Fisk on your new program coming up. In the meantime Keep well Love Vince
