Dear Mr. Driskell,
Pursuant to our conversation of 18 April 1978, enclosed for your files are black and white and color photos of my painting by N.A. Primus.
The painting is 20 by 24 inches and is believed to have been painted in the New England area approximately October 1881.
I would appreciate it very much if you would pass on to me any additional information you may have on Primus, this painting or his other works. In this regard the Frick Art References Library has advised that he also painted a mural, oil on canvas, 15' x 12-1/2' of Christ being taken down from the Cross. Would you know where that mural is now located?
I would also appreciate it if you would provide me with a point of contact with that individual at the Connecticut Historical Society who has custody of Primus' painting of Lizzie May Ulmer.
Sincerely,
Stanley B. Szczepanski

Dear David,
Incroyable! My mother called me -- a sure sign that she has recovered -- to tell me that you were on CBS. The time of your appearance in this area must have been different because I couldn't find you. An hour later, however, I caught you, and you [underlined] were [/underlined] absolutely spell binding.
The authority of your[underlined] eyebrows [/underlined] alone would

put Leonid Brezhnev's nose out of joint. Your dignity is massive, and when you were lecturing, I felt that you belonged, at least, on Mount Rushmore. Actually, on T.V. you do, curiously enough, resemble Frederick Douglass....
Incidentally, your beautifully cut suit looked as if you had just returned from Milano. Bravissimo!
