Suffolk Nov 30. 1770 Gentm. We atr this day favd. with yours of 21st Cent and observe what you say about the sum that was omitted in your invoice, the contents was 106. Gallonss at 2/6. and as it was drawn out of a large hhd. into the one sent its very probable that proper care was not taken to get a sufficient hhd. however at any rate we will make any reasonable allowance for such neglect provided you think it owing to that, than the rum was wanting We are very sorry that we cannot have some further dealings, but really as Exchge is rising & likely to continue we cannot as yet think of a less then 75 pct advance on the usual Credit, Pork we cannot say much abt. but expect for large hoggs the price will be abt. 18/. We are respect.y. yr st Gentm Gibson Granberry & Co

Hillsborough Decr. 2nd 1770

Sr. Tell as favour'd with yours of this day by James & in answer, I found my child well at my return which I esteem a great Blessing, as my happiness in this would greatly depend on her well fare and the preservation of her life; I forgot to inform you that I intend to take a hhd of N. Harris's Tobco. & either pay him or J & B [page torn] what it amounts to more than he owes me, therefore when you send it off desire Mr. Dunlop to take anote for one hhd separate from the rest, like wise I expect as much of Mr Glen's Tobo. as will pay what is due me Please to Inform P. Dosset Junr. I called on H. Wood Junr. according to promise but he was gone for home, a few hours ago I recieved a letter from Mr. Miller of Halifax acquinting me, Tobco there is fell to 22/6 [?] part money & part goods, say he is very indifferent abt. buying with pro & in that case can't draw or pay money before June for what is delivered betwixt this & 23 rd Jany. I have order'd James to wait on Saml. Hill early tomorrow morning with your mare, but am afraid he will not get her shod, pray tell Browning I insist on having all the outlying hogs gathered this week in haste & remain, with regards Dr. Sr. yr. Sincere Friend Mr. Johnston
