Esteemed Friends

I have rec'd your favours of Decb. 27
& the 1 & 2 Inst. I am very much oblig'd to you for
favouring me with so particular an acco't of the
proceedings in your province & especially the order of
the House of Burgesses in print. I am this day
Informed that H. H. has given Bale for his appear-
ance & got releas'd out of Prison, which I'm affraid
will be attended with bad consequences, as I expect
he will Irritate the mob & perhaps perhaps prevail
with them to strike some desperate stroke before
he can be tried, I should much rejoice to hear of
Peace being established amongst you.

These Waggons came down the Squire Level Road
& went to B Brook Warehouse & had the Tob'o turn'd
out & strip'd before I saw any of them. Tyre Harris's
Boy among the Rest. It is all Pass'd but not yet weigh'd.
Peyton Clements 2 Hhds. which came down first is
pass'd & weighs 2268 lbs nett. The last 2 are to Pick J:B:
went to the Warehouse but forgot to take the weight of
Peter Coffe's, it is pass'd. James Veezeys weighs 2085 ntt.
I have pd. for turning it up. I don't well understand
what you mean about the order for Tyre Harriss Tob'o.
Please to be more clear in your next & if you get an order
from him remember those 2 Hhds. are at B Brook.
There was no market for Tob'o last Court I could not hear
of 1 Hhd. sold there. Exch. fix'd at 20 prct they [?]
out a long time for 22 ½. Neither R:B.s Cloa[?] [nor]
Writing Desk are finished. Wm. Parsons is out [?]
Roanoak & I don't know that he has any Shells less
unburnt. I have procur'd a Hhd. for you tho' at
a high price with the other articles you requested

& am very respectfully

Your assured Friend
