Messrs Johnston & Bennehan Petersburg 25th July 1774 Gentlemen By Mr [?] am favored with yours of 9th Currant [?] [?] you have a state of your accot also the [?] & [?] of the 6 hhds Tobo Im inclineable to think Tobo is on the rise & that it will command something more thatn 16/8 [?] pay the buyers [?] [?] great pains to keep down the price at present by borrowing & finding to each other but as this cant hold long they must either conclude to give more or fit the shipping by [?] the New Crop. Mr Hanson you may be sure will buy on as easie terms as he can & declares he will not exceed 15/ at the Factory.
I did not advert to your [Memom] that it was only to Hohn & John Alston it can not make any difference as they knew the remittance was from you they would surely apply it properly. The Brunswick & Ocean are both arrived the last of these ships is unloading here (& the) other is dayly expected I will endeavor to dispose of your Tobo with some I have of my own to the best advantage and am Gentlemen Your most Huml Servt Wm [?]
