Chapel Hill Sept 5th 1800
I can inform you that our village, is once more entirely clear of all our foreign visiter's, Judge Johnston & Mr McKenzie left this place on yesterday Morning, in tolerable health, Mr. McKenzie particularly in high spirits at the thoughts of returning home, and interested to reach Raleigh that night.
We heard to day from Gale, which informed us that he was greatly mended, and in all probality would be restored to his distressed family -- I am extremely sorry that owing to Mr Gale's indisposition his last paper was not printed, & the negligence of the past master or some other person, I received not my paper before the last, so that I have lost my two last paper.
We herd also that owing to something Boylin had breathed, it caused Mr. B. Baker to make an attack on him, in the first battle Mr. Baker came of on equal terms Mr Boylin however attacked him before he left Town knocked him of his Horse, and came of victorious, so that the Federalists appear to be victorious in small matters as I hope they will be in those of importance.
I am truly sorry that your friend Susannah was as good as her promise. May you all continue in perfect health, my love to my Parents, I am dear Sister
