I have your bundles all ready to send you but will not trouble Papa with them as it will only be a day or [illegible] before you will get them. Minnie expects to go in Friday & that is the chief reason I have for delaying until Saturday; she is very sorry not to have seen her Hillsboro friends.- I have not seen her [illegible] me- will give her your belssings when I do-. I have not seen as much of aunts or [illegible] is of dear Eliza [Fisher?] as I would like to do, but I could not help it. Poor Eliza has [illegible] very much & I fear she is not long for this world. I must see her again for I reckon I may never do so again-. I am truly attentive to her she has always been so [appreciative?] to me, & was so fond of my husband- Her sister, [A Cameron?] has just come from [Roa.?] & is very [illegible] also, & we fear that Dr [Fisher?] has lost his place-. I shall be so[sorry if its [illegible]. I am sure you will be sorry to hear that Dr [John?]- son is very ill & that [Cameron?] & Fanny are look- very sick & I fear [Fanny?] will never be any better. I have written very hurridly in the [illegible] room with talking all around me. I must stop now, and you must excuse all [not?] for frankness

Raleigh. 26. Dec. 1865.

My dear Sir

Mag received your letter yesterday & I regret to find that her anxiety on my account had caused you so much uneasiness & as I think so unnecessarily. I had been suffering for Several days with a wicked pain in my head which seemed to return periodically and the number of sudden deaths which had recently occurred by then with the two cases of violent inflammation of the brain which then [herniated] fatally, alarmed her and she sent for the Doctor without my knowledge- I was busy out of doors when he came & he of course made very light of it & gave Some Simple prescription_ I fear my depression of Spirits under which in spite of all my efforts to overcome I had been laboring for some time. while Annie & Lessie were here, caused them to think more seriously of my case than it deserved- I do my best to cheer up, but in defiance of all my efforts, I give way every now & then I know it is wrong & useless and think I ought to be thank
