This Indenture made this Nineteenth day of may in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and forty two between Edward Jones of the one part & John Martin of the other part. Witnesseth that the s^d Edward Jones & Sons Recd for by of the Sum of Twenty Five pound Curr^y money of Virginia to him in hand paid at or before the Ensealing & Delivery hereof the receipt whereof is here by Acknowledged, & the s^d Edw^d Jones, he the s^d Jn^o Martain doth hereby aquit & Discharge hath grant^d Cary^d sold releas^d & Conferr'd by these present do fully & absolutely grant bargin sell release & Confirm unto the s^d John Martain his heirs & Assigns forever a Certain Tract of Land & plantation Lying & being in Edgecombe County on the N^o side of Sandy Creek Containing Two hundred acres be the same more or less Begining at a Red Oake on the s^d Creek side thence Runing out by a line of marked Trees to a White Oake Thence of & Down the Creek by a line of marked trees to the Center of two White Oake Sapplins, Thence by a line of mark^d trees to a Corner white Oake on the s^d Creek Together, with all houses & Buildings thereon & all his right title & Interest-- in & to the s^d premisses & the reversions & reversions remainder & remainders rents Houses & proftis thereof & of every Part & Parcil thereof with the Appurtenances TO have & to hold the s^d tract of Land with all Edifices thereunto Proffits priviledges Hereditaments & Appertenances to the Same belong to the s^d John Martain his heirs Doth Consent Promise & agree to & with the s^d Jn^o Martain his heirs & Assigns that the above granted Premisses-- Tax free & Clear of Charges & Incumbrance Whatsoever, that the s^d Ed^d Jones hath an IndefisableEstate of Inhabitation In fee simple in & to the s^d Premisses & hath full Power & Authority to Sell & Dispose of the same & he the s^d Ed^d Jones his heirs Exe^s dm^s shall & will warr^t Secure & for ever Defend the same to the s^d John Martain, his heirs & assigns

forever ag^st the Lawfull Claim or Dem^d of any person or persons whatsoever & Shall & will at any time hereafter on the resonable request of the s^d John Martain make & Execute such Conveniances of the Law for the better Conform Or serve making the s^d Premisses to the s^d John Martain his heirs or Assigns as Shall be advised or required-- In Witness where of the s^d Ed^d Jones hath hereunto Set his hand & Seal the day & year above Written
