thing we do right & place every confidence in our exertions --
Mr H- appears to have made many friends & to be pleased with
those around him -- He has so much to do, is so much occupied,
that he has not time to compare himself much with other men --
as comparisons you know are odious-- He tells me to give
his warmest remembrance to Mr S & yourself -- He regrets
none so much -- Write a long, long letter by Thaddy -- Poor --
boy;- I will be so glad when he gets home again -- I expect
Mr Pratt will bring his sister -- Julia & Cally desire their
love & kiss to Alice -- Charles is not here but he is honored
by your message -- I ought to be ashamed to perpetrate such a
letter -- I am trying to make up in quanity what it lacks in
quality -- Remember me kindly to those who remember me kindly --
My respects to Mrs. Guld when you see her -- I felt the other
evening like writing to her -- I am sorry for Mrs. P. Martin --
She must have suffered so much anxiety -- & still must. Yours
ever Devotedly C. L. Hentz
