of my little parcel-; I made a very fine injection of its
arterial system, and made some fine preparations of its
heart and viscera, which I placed in the College museum --

It was my good fortune, during my sojurn in Louisville,
to fall into delightful and admirable social surroundings; and
to form some very dear friendships -- Mrs. Bayless was the
youngest of three sisters-; Miss Mary F. C. Browne, and Miss
Sallie B. -- these two elder, maiden sisters, resided in a
pleasant little home, which they called "Rose Cottage"; which
was but little over one square distant from Dr. B's-; on
7th St. not far from corner of Walnut -- the oldest --
Miss Mary, was about 32 yrs. of age-; a lady of great re-
finement & cultivation; with plain, homely features; ex-
quisite musical taste & skill -- A very warm friendship
sprang up between us, which time has never chilled-; not
until the time of her death which occurred little over a
year ago -- at the age of 76-; we still corresponded-; his
sister Sallie, a few years her junior, was overflowing with
animation & kindness-; full of fun always-; some years after
this time, she moved to Missouri-; & married a Mr. Relf-; her
first child was a daughter, which she named Estelle Hentz-;
Mrs. R died some 7 yrs. ago -- in 1885-; in indigent cir-
cumstances, & much suffering, but still full of life &
cheerfulness to all around her -- Miss Mary had been
disappointed in love, and never got over it -- She was a
lovely character-; taught school up to the time of her death.
