had a fine breakfast aboard -- splendid oysters & fish -- and a fine journey down the Hillsborough River, and Mosquito Lagoon -; from the upper deck the great Atlantic Ocean can be seen all the way -; we spent most of the day up there, enjoying the novel scenery -- We passed though Haulover -- a straight canal, just wide enough for the steamer to go through; about 1/2 mile from the Lagoon into Indian River-; from the upper deck the whole can be seen from end to end --
.....We reached Titusville at 3 P.M. & stopped a while -- kept on to City POint, which we reached about sunset -- met out old friends there -- Bexie & baby & the Hatchs -- Jim Robinson was on hand -- he brought down our wagon -- but we staid all night at Hatch's-; he took the new mule up with him -- named Jane --
..... The Misses Herndon had gotten off at Capt. Sharpe's -- expecting to board there -- Jim Robinson came down after breakfast with our wagon, drawn by Mr. Sanders' horse, & we went up to our place -- where we found everything looking well -- a splendid crop of oranges in the grove-; the house in comfortable fix -- We soon had ourselves fixed pleasantly-; using Alice's former bedroom as our sleeping apartment-; all the nothern half of the house being used as a packing house --
.....Sunday -- Jan. 25 -- after cleaning up after breakfast, wife & I & Harry walked up to Capt. Sharpe's; there was no service at church -- We met Capt. & Mrs. S. (Mrs. S unwell in her room) and Miss Ellison & Mr & Mrs & Miss Ballantyne; and
