Tu 29th I feel some better this morning after spending a verry sick night with bad cold & cought all night Clear & dry & warm No news

The brown Mares Colt died this morning Never new it was sick until about 1 hour before it died

I again dreamed a verry unfavourable dream Some thing is to happen with our blacks before long

Sept 20 I am some little better not much

Wed 20 Cloudy & like for rain We are trying to make a cole pit We finished putting our hogs in the lower field to fatten having put the most of them up a week ago. News are [hand pointing] that a fight is expected in Virginia soon It commenced raining verry slow about 12 oclock rained all day & until the next day

Th 1st Oct. Oct This morning it still rains but verry slowly but is making a good season which is so much needed It seems there are a concentration of troops toChatanuga for another fight.

They Fedrals still continues to fortafy the Streets Now out at the forks of the road this side of Town, fortifying
