[Left: 1867 May Frid 3] The morning is clear calm & beautiful & spring like

[Left Frid 3] All hands are at work this morning John has been working in
the garden the cut worms are eating our vegitables before they
are fit to use. We are shelling Corn to go to Mill, the last
[Left: Meal] turn has lasted eight days only the other turns lasted 12 days
(see about) there is foul play it only lasted 2/3 as long as
the other turns and they were all the same 2 1/2 bushels (See Th
26th Apl)
[Left: Black Mare] The black Mare had last night a filly Colt Chesnut sorrel A
[Left: & Colt]
verry good Colt. It has not sucked later in the evening
[Left: Ball] The Ball horse one of his eyes looks verry weak. I have had
[Left: Horse]
his head greased with lard & Sulphur & fresh butter put in his
ears this morning, he is still plowing, by George Hargroves.

[Left: Sat 4] The morning is cloudy the wind is from the East looks like
rain The little colt (Black Mares) is not dead yet I think
[Left: Ball] it will dye it is dead. It cant suck The Ball horse is

quite lame feet verry tender he cant travel I sent him to
[Left: Leftwich] the Shop this morning to have him shod. I read Leftwich speach
[Left: Speach]
he is verry mild but verry determined in favour of the conserva-
[Left: Hands] tives & opposed to radicalism. All hands quit work today gone
[Left: went]
gone &c The wind blew verry hard all day from the E. & S. E.
There has been no one here all day I have been quite unwell
[Left: Mag] Mag went away last Tuesday Not got back William got home at
night.
