I recieved a letter from W J Porter dated 20th May in which
he thinks he will not be damaged bad in the Suit agt him by
McFarrar &c Seems to be in fine spirits I reced a letter from
A. G. N. living near Charlston Miss inquiring about
borther Jacks family he wants to buy a about 150 or 80 acres
of land near here he wants me to write See letter. Mag
went to Town in Bugga.

The morning cool the clouds are moving a little every way
Wind from E. & S. E. looks like rain there is a picknick among
the blacks today down at the creek I suppose there will be
several thousand blacks there, considerable to do, there are
about 3 days in the week they have a gathering some where that
calls the last one off from there work If this state of affairs
continues there will be quite a poore show this fall for any
thing to be made

The Circuit Court is still in session Puss went with Mag to
town yesterday & layed out her money for herself &c.
We got some cole oil yesterday. William took his pistol with
him this moring. There are considerable signs of robery &
stealing in the neighbourhood about now. I planted 2 beans that
William gave me they are said to be of superior quality they
