Wm William went & took Thomas's hogs down to Lewis County to buy

Corn & fatten them

Thos L. P. ) William did not git home last night.

Town I went to Town Seen Mr. Bennet. The Negroes round about Mt.

Pleasant is doing verry bad burning robing (or trying to do

Died ( so) Wm D. Matthews died about 11 oclock to day (paralized)

Wed 22 The morning is a little cloudy calm & warm

Wm William got home last night from Websters.

My ( I went to Town found the pettion sent to me from Nashville by
Government )
Claim ( Majr J. D. Walker to get the signature of the Loyal Citizens
pettion )
of this County some 6 or 7 of them or as many as I can git

The pettion reads as follows -

Nashville. Tennessee Sept 28, 1869

Majr Genl James A. Eakin Dept Q. M. Genl. U. S. A.

We the undersigned Loyal Citizens of Maury County Tennessee

believing that injustice has been done to Nimrod Porter a Loyal

Citizen of said County, in the decission recently made in the

matter of his Claim against the Government, would respectfully
