& stopped for the day - having gone over about 30 acres
Planted Lima Beans

The stand of cotton is now a very good one, all over the
plantation

The scrapers finished the balance of the Thomas field &
all of the Bars field - in all about 40 acres - a little before
12 & stopped for the day

The Corn plows stopped at the same time, having gone over
about 15 acres of the Kenedy field

We have now gone over, with the scrapers, about 305 acres,
with the hoes about 280, and with the corn plows, on the third
round, about 80 acres

In planting Cotton another season be sure to have the
openers so regulated that the Cotton shall not be covered deep
To that end, the wings should be let down to the iron & the
coverer should be scooped out so as to leave a narrow ridge
of dirt over the seed higher than the main ridge

It would be well too, I think, to provide every plow with
a coulter to prevent the dirt from being turned up in clods,
& every Corn plow should be provided with a board to prevent
the dirt from covering up the Corn. With suoh a plow we could
run nearer to the Corn

Peas should be covered very shallow
