May 27th. 1852.
Rec'd "S. Press" 15 May to day from the east, & day before
yesterday the 4th from ths West.

Ground too wet to plow to day. The Cotton plows went
to work, however, in the afternoon. The plantation has been
very much washed by the rains of yesterday. Cotton is becoming
well set with grass & purslain

Sprinkled in the morning & rained lightly in the evening

Peter worked water-melon vines to day. I saw one vine
fully one foot long

"F. Observer" of 18th. May came from the east to day

Ran 13 shovels around cotton after dinner & finished the
Thomas field & within 10 rows of the N. Gum field in all about
24 acres

The hoe hands finished N. G. field & lacked about 13 acres
of finishing Thomas field in all about 52 acres

The corn plows did not run. Grinding to day.

May 28th. 1852.

Rain about 12 oclock & again in the evening

The Cotton & Corn plows ran until 12 oclock to day. The
rain then stopped them for the balance of the day. The former
passed over about half of ths Spencer field having skipped to
that field in order to let the hoe hands go ahead of the plows
The Corn plows passed over about 13 acres in the Kenedy
field
