January 3rd. 1855.
I went to Memphis on the 1st. day of this month to
pay my first note given to Dunn for Arkansas land, &
returned to day

January 4th. 1855.
Mr. Rowan staid with me last night. He offered me
$2.00 pr acre cash, for S. W. 27, 5, 2 which joins his land &
that of Mr. Hullom
Rained last night to the depth of 1 3/8 inches

January 5th. 1855.
Rained last night to the depth of 3/4 inches.
Dr. D. Crisp & Mr. Mayo staid with us last night. The
Dr. came to see Viney, this is his third visit

Wrote to Dr. Loving yesterday informing him 1st. that I
had purchased Dr. Parke's interest in the Crawford lands; 2nd.
that Parks set up a claim to an interest in a tract of land,
sold in 1844 by Wm. Ayres, Joseph Cheairs & Mr. Crawford's
heirs, which lies in Tennessee; & 3d. that I had learned that
Mr. Tardy claims the rents of these lands as belonging to the
effects of the Doctor's agent, the late Mr. Miller. To the
rents of 1853 & 1854, I told the Dr. I set up a claim, but
those of prior years belong to the heirs of Mr. Crawford. I
