Henry T. Thomas arrived to dinner & will stay the night
with us

January 17th. 1855.
My wife & myself, with the baby & nurse, started for
Memphis on Sunday the14th. Sunday night we stayed in Lagrange
with Mrs. Glover. On Monday morning we went to Memphis &
returned home Wednesday evening

Viney still sick. Dr. Crisp staid with us last night &
was to see Viney once during our absence.

Rec'd a letter from my son W. J. L. dated at Little Rock
Jan'y 12th; also one from Mr. Smallwood, asking me to send the
note I hold on him to Mr. Strlcklin; also one from Stephen G.
Herrln of Randolph, Mississippi, proposing to buy the N. E. Qr
of 36, 10, 1 & asking my price & terms.

January 20th. 1855.
Sold to day the S. W. 27, 5, 2 to Wm. Rowan for $320.00
Cash (& gave him a deed) with the understanding, in presence
of Mr. Clark, that if I should become dissatisfied with the
trade after seeing the land, the deed is to be returned to me
upon my returning the money, & that I am not to charge him for
any timber he may use in the mean time

Sent to Day's Mill 130 lbs. wheat & rec'd back according
to his report 72 1/2 lbs. flour
