FRANCIS TERRY LEAK
(1803-1864)
Mississippi

Francis Terry Leak (1803-1364) was the son of Walter
and Hannah Pickett Leak of Rockingham, North Carolina.
He was admitted to the North Carolina bar in 1824 and
later moved to Mississippi where he engaged in planting.
At the time of this diary he was in the Benton County
and Tippah County area.

Two typed volumes, of which this is the second, cover
the period from January 1859 to November 1862 and
represent the fifth manuscript volume in a series of
five. The pages 373-658 contained in this volume cover
the dates May 7, 1861 to November 3, 1862.
