19 [207] DIARY OF FRANCIS TAYLOR, 1792, 1792, August, 27, C.Taylor, Fra' & C.Conway called here on their way to Court. My father & I went with them. I bought a Calf skin for G.C.Taylor 10/- & 1/2 Kip skin for myself- I was very unwell last night with cholic & had high fever to day. Mr.J.Blair del'd me my watch repaired by Jas Walker. 28, Cloudy last night and this morning early, about sunrise, began to rain and continued moderately till about 9 o'clock, then cleared. C.Taylor called & went with my father & I to Court. My father & self dined at Nooe's- J.Taylor (Z's son) came from Court & dined with G.C.Taylor- Had my mare shod. Alex Shepherd paid for Shoeing 2/- which the Sadler owed me & he had rec'd. 29, Elijah Cook was here & got 3 ps Bacon 28 lb. at 8d. for his father & paid 15/- My father paid me for C.Taylor 43/- for his own Tobacco in the Stemmed Hnd. sold Mr.Blair and 23/5 for Capt Burnley's part in said Hnd. G.Taylor first deducted 3/10 from Capt Burnley's part for Hemp sold him- Uncle Taylor & son John, *Col E.Pendleton & son John, Mr Francis Conway, Catlett Conway & Reu Taylor dined here- Thompson Taylor came here in the evening- has the Ague & fever. [*Col.Edmund Pendleton; b.Jan.1743/4; m.8/16/1764, Mildred Pollard and had 7 ch. of whom John named above, b.1765, m.1789; Anne Lewis; and his sister; Frances, b.Sept 18, 1767, m.Robert Taylor, son of Erasmus. -PFT] 30, C.Taylor came here to breakfast. Mess'rs Fra's & C.Conway went away with him. My father & I went to Uncle Taylor's. Col E.Pendleton & family, his son & do. dined there- Robert Taylor& family there- I came by Jas Taylor's & at request of Rob't Taylor asked his family to dine there tomorrow. 31, My father went to Rob't Taylor's, who had Company to day- I went to Nooe's where Mess'rs Barbour, Webb & Madison: & Arbitrators met on their account. made some progress- Barbour & Webb renewed their bonds to the last of October for further proceeding on their business. September, 1, I went to Shooting & Barbecue at Cook's, in Company J.Taylor & son & J.Pendleton Culp'r- Ch' & Reu Taylor, Fra's & Hay Taliaferro, Catlett Conway, Thornton & Hen Fitzhugh, B.Hyde, Young &c &c were there & dined &c. 2, [SUNDAY] Cloudy morning & a little rain- Thompson Taylor & I went to Church. Mr.Fry preached, few present- J.Barbour, Shf. & J.Taylor jr dined here & staid till next morning. 3, Thompson Taylor having missed his Ague, set out this morning to return to Caroline- J.Taylor jr went early home, J.Barbour jr went after breakfast- My father G.C.Taylor and I went to James Taylor's- Col Madison Sen'r- Col.Edm'd Pendleton & family, John Pendleton, Caroline, &do. Rob't Taylor & do. James Barbour jr & his bro'r Thomas & sister Lucy- & Eliz'a Chew were there- John Pendleton (of Culpeper) & family went from Jas Taylor's this morning to Culpeper-Cloudy and a few drops of rain. 4, Very clear morning and cool- My father went to Geo Newman's to see J.Baylor and dined there- G.C.Taylor went to Rob't Taylor's- I went to the Store and exchanged with C.P.Howard 1 p/s 4/4 White Linen F.T. No 5: [table] [table] I called at Uncle Taylor's & dined. Mrs L.Taliaferro & son Lawrence, Mrs Burnley, Milly Glassell, were there- Mr.C.P.Howard was there in evening- 5, Chs Taylor came in morning and looked at my father's leg and says 'til in a fair way to get well soon. He went away after Breakfast to go to W.Beale's &c We dined at home- in the evening J Taylor came over, was here an hour or two. Dry cool weather.
