December,
14, Went Hare hunting to Uncle Taylor's we killed five-dined there w'th G.Taylor, Jas Taylor, C.Taylor, Maj'r Madison, J.Pendleton & wife & T Barbour & wife. R.Taylor & wife were at home, Came by J.Taylors & while there Mr James Coleman & wife came there & said they had been to my fathers-

15, Dined with J.Taylor, G.Taylor, Jas Coleman & wife were there
16, [Sunday] paid a Negro of Mr.Woods 1/10 1/2 for two trays. G.Taylor set off to Caroline, intends to Capt Conways to dinner & to proceed from there tomorrow Capt Conway & Ch Taylor intend down w'th him. I went with my father to Hubbar Taylors & dined there with only his own family.
17, Cloudy, misty & Sleet this morning. J.Pendleton came with his hounds in evening and I joined him in a hare hunt, but caught nothing.
18, Maj'r Moore & Capt Burnley dined here-fine weather-Negroes cutting & c for Plant patch.
19, Went Hare hunting with Rob Taylor, J.Pendleton & T.Barbour & dined at J.Taylor Uncle Taylor, Rob't Taylor & familys were there. Mozes went to work in the woods. S Mozingo not being there, he went to Mr Gartons & brought home Souse tub & says the price is 5 pecks wheat.
20, Went Hare hunting on Baylors Mountains, in Company with about Ten men, got a Dozen hares & had them dressed at Hanfords, Cost us 1/- each.
21, Hare hunt at Hub'd Taylors, w'th Maj'r Moore, a Mr Bailis, L Throckmorton, M Spencer, Capt Burnley, Rob't Taylor, J.Taylor, Reuben Taylor, J.Pendleton & Th Barbour, dined there, Uncle Eras Taylor, J.Pendleton & T.Barbour's wives there. Very unwell at night, very cold. Wrote George pass to go to Caroline for a week or ten days-& let him have pr stockings. Mozingo says a Mad Cow died to day & if it should be skinned? which I directed to be done- [George, a Negro slave, WKA.]
22, George set off early this morning-Began to snow ab't 10 o'clock & cont'd all day. Negroes & cart came to get wood after it began. S.Mozingo was here & got 1 1/2 Bus Wheat at 4/6 Capt Burnley here an hour in evening.
23, [Sunday] Left off snowing after day, fell 6 inches deep. Moderate day, some sunshine, some clouds-Snowed a little in evening, Cloudy, My health better, had a great sweat last night. Put Vinegar to Souse.
24, Went to Court, Saw Mr.J.Finney & wife from Botetourt, who went home with bror James- Paid A Wilson 7/6 for Brown paper w'ch he bot for me & is to send to Majr Lees. Bought an Ax of H.Mace for 6/- w'ch is for G.Taylor. A company were in pursuit of the Wolves yesterday and to-day-got some shoots at it & I hear have slightly wounded one.
25, I breakfasted at J.Taylors. J.Finney & wife there, J.Pendleton & T Barbour at Maj'r Lees Store drink'g Egg punch- We all went to Mrs Thomas's & dined- Mr.R'd Thomas, Mrs Barbour & family & T Buckner there. I came by C.Taylorswho told me he did not expect my father w'd get home till last of this week
26, Dined at J.Taylors, C.Taylor & family, Mrs Barbour & do., J.Finney & wife, J.Thomas & T Buckner were there-
27, Had the leaf Hogs lard tried up&c Dined at Uncle Taylors with J.Taylors family J.Finney &c, Mrs Barbour.
28, Dined at C.Taylors, J.Finney, J.Pendleton, T.Barbour, Reuben Taylor & their wives, J.Taylor & Miss S.Barbour were there, very fine weather. J.Finney staid at C.Taylors.
29, Maj'r Madison & wife at J.Taylors who sent for me, I dined there- Mrs James & Mrs Clark were there. Weather still very good.
30, Began to snow before day & cont'd till in the night & fell about 4 Inches upon the old. I walked to C.Taylor's who went with me to J.Taylors, where we dined, J Finney & wife were there.
31, Went Wolf hunting, 30 people out. J.Moore killed one Wolf & 8 of the Company shot at the other( the last Maj'r Madison) which was also killed between 1 & 2 o'clock. I breakfasted at Maj'r Lees & ColAlcock invited several who came by
