May,
21, H.Taylor's waggon was here & took 26 Bus Wheat which G.Taylor sends to Fount Maury. The Cart, Peter, S.Daniel & Jim came to work on the Garden-
22, Cool morning- Capt Burnley was here to breakfast and said he saw white frost. About Garden to-day- I went with Capt Burnley as low as the Church a fishing, caught only a few- Bees swarmed- No.2.
23, Sent a keg I bought vinegar in to Court house- Also a Jug of Brandy which Capt. Wood promised to give rum in exchange for, but was from home & the jug was left- My father went to Court house- called at Uncle Taylor's, saw Mrs Belmain, who came to Orange w'th Mrs Hite yesterday. Saw lightning flies last night. Had milk and Strawberries-
24, [Sunday] Ch Taylor dined here. After dinner, J.Taylor, John Pendleton (who came over to-day) C.Taylor's wife & children, Miss M.Conway, Reu Taylor & son Wm., James Taylor of Caroline & J.Taylor jr were here. Reuben Taylor del'd me four Patents for my Military Land, of 1,000 Acres each, which Maj'r Moore brought from Richmond.
25, Court day, Rainy till 10 o'clock. Henry Chilton came here with an order from C.Dickinson on G.Taylor for £12. He staid to Dinner & then G.T. & I went with him to Court. C.Taylor lent me a man to-day and tomorrow-
26, Cloudy and small rain most of the day- Went with G.Taylor to Court, dined at Wood's. Court broke up- C.Conway came here w'th us. M.Perry planted Tob'o.
27, Sent my mare to Maj'r Moore's Clodius, to pay two dollars when I see him. C.Taylor came here & Capt Conway went home in evening. Bees No.3 swarmed. Good weather-
28, Clouded and rain last night and damp day-Richard Taylor send Baldwin with his Chair for his sons- He wrote me that Col.James Taylor's wife died yesterday morning. He also inclosed a patent for 1,000 Acres Land on the Ohio, Fayette County.
29, Went with G.Taylor to Called Court on two negroes. Paid Maj'r Moore 12/- for my mare put to his horse the 27th- paid Capt Wood 2/6 for dinner the 26th- Came by J.Taylor's & dined. C.Taylor's wife & children, Miss M.Conway, Bowie Pendleton, John Pendletons & T.Barbours wives &c were there. Witnessed E.Taylor's Will at Lee's store.
30, Richard and Colby Taylor set off w'th Baldwin about sunrise to go to their fathers. Capt Burnley came here to breakfast and borrowed Sheep shrears- Hub'd Taylor sent some Asparagus & wrote my father that he intends down on Monday next in his Carriage & offered him a place in it.
31, G.Taylor rode to H'd Taylor's to inform him he would go down with him, after he came home we walked to C.Taylor's & dined- M.Fall & two of Capt Conway's children came while we were there. I sent Frank with my horse to R.Taylor's for him to ride to Spotsylvania &c. Rainy afternoon. -[Sunday]-
June,
1, My horse came last night to J.Taylor's pasture. I sent him back this morning to Rob't Taylor. C.Taylor came here to breakfast and went as far as H.Taylor's with my father who set out with H.Taylor to Caroline. Rob't Taylor called after breakfast, I got him to take the two Tob'o notes my father let me have to deliver Mr.Font'e Mary's- I also gave R.T. and order from Wm. Thompson on H.Mitchell for 30/- to lay out for me- I fixed a bee hive, Replanted W.melons Cloudy morning- fair evening.
2, Clear day, Hived two swarms of bees in one large gum No.4. the other in the short Poplar bark No.5. I went to J.Taylor's, dined there with J.Pendleton & family & T.Barbour's wife- walked in evening to Mrs. Thomas's & eat some cherries, not ripe & but sorry.
3, Dined at J.Taylor's-Mr.T.Bell, his wife, Nancy & Milly Bell, Jno. Thoams & C. Taylor were there.
