March 8 Charles Porter died do 4, Col.J.Duncunson, Fredericksburg died. April 15 Hay Taliaferro mar's Mrs L.Thurston 27, James Blair mar'd Miss Nelly Shepherd, May 28, F[rancis] .Dade died this morning, July 4, Jos Wood sen'r of Culpeper died 3, William Jackson of Fred'g died. Mar. 9, Chas Porter buried at Chinch Hall (where Scotch Taylor lives-1892-) 20, Rev.Mr.Leland's Farewell Sermon, he went to the Northern States of which he was a native, Apl. 25, Election of Delegates: Barbour 220, Davis 212, Ben Johnson 192, Capt Conway (who was not a candidate) 100. Benj Johnson was grandfather of B.Johnson Barbour. May. Vestry Book kept by Col.Frank T. June 7, Rev.Mr.Stevenson preached the funeral sermon of Capt Dade at Rose Hill. July 30, Division of some land at Capt Burnley's. The "Black Walnut" tract mentioned Aug.27 Col.Frank Taylor, the Diarist had a Company in Revolution in 2d, Va Regiment Jas Jackson came to get information & he was referred to Maj'r Cowherd James & Charles Taylor, were brothers of Col.Frank. Mrs.Thos Barbour [Jr] often named was his niece & dau of James Taylor, the Clerk of Orange. [Col.Francis Taylor's other brothers who are mentioned in the diary Jonathan, Edmund, Richard, William, Reuben, and Benjamin. George Conway Taylor was half-brother. Other brothers: George d.1761: John died on the old Prison Ship "Jersey" at New York, a prisoner of war.-PFT- 22, Francis Stubbs Taylor, nephew of Col.Frank [and son of Edmund Taylor died in Kentucky in 1786] was father of Sally Taylor who married Dr Ed.Carmichael of Fredericksburg. He writes that he has engaged to live with Col [William] Lindsay in the Naval Office at Norfolk for three years at £30. a year. He afterwards married Miss [Ann] Lindsay-About '98 or '99 Col Lindsay died at Newport. R.I. and was properly buried there. 31. Funeral of Mr.Bell's daughter Sally who died on the 20th. Dec 12. Mr.Wm.Taylor's sale----Does not appear to have been related to the Orange Taylors.
