27, Clear, Mountains white with snow. J.Taylor came here but returned & sent & got 3 Gallons Brandy- C.Taylor dined here- I have a bad cold.
28, My cold very bad- F.S.Taylor set off to Caroline. I gave him two dollars to buy a hat- Cloudy. C.Taylor came by & G.C.T.aylor went with him to Maj'r Madison's- G.Taylor rode to Quarter.
29, Hubbard Taylor, J.Taylor & son & C.Taylor dined here. ---[SUNDAY]---
30, Some snow in morning in spits- Mountains White. Inevening Mr.Rose & Mr Winston, who ret'd from Redstone with F.S.Taylor came here on their return home- they stayed till the 1st Dec'r after breakfast.
December,
1, I went to School house where was a meeting of Gentlemen to consult about Mr. Goodlet's school, there was not anything determined about it- deferred.
2, Mr.Ingram rode here to get his acc't settled. My cold continues very bad, tho' a little mending- H.Taylor's waggon took in 42 Bus Wheat, by G.Taylor's measure from here & to take 2 Bus from home, also a bag of peas- which he is to deliver Patton & Dalrymple.
3, Killed 21 Hogs- 16 brought here & Moses Perry had 5. The 16 weighed 2,111 Nett- the 5, 626 equal to 545 Nett. Had some cut up & salted.
4, Finished Salting Hogs. G.T. went to Store & dined at Mr.Shepherd's. Capt Burnley dined here. I went after dinner with him to C.Taylor's, Capt Conway was there-
5, Went with G.Taylor & the boys and dined at J.Taylor's. T.Barbour & his wife got there from Culpeper. Reu Taylor & Thos Farish dined there. G.C.Taylor went to Col Madison's-
6, [SUNDAY] Ww dined at home.
7, Hub'd Taylor was here & said he had sold his land to W.Taylor, Merch't, for £1,000.-£600 Goods &c. his Waggon brought up some things for my father.
8, C.Taylor dined here- I went to store, got some paper &c- in evening H.Taylor a came & got the acc't of his Goods which he left with me yesterday- G.C.Taylor went with him, they intend to Fredericksburg tomorrow.
9, I went to Store, bought a Felt hat, ret'd by Uncle Taylor's and went with him to Rob't Taylor's, his family & G.Taylor dined there- I ret'd by J.Taylor's-
10, Went with G.Taylor & dined at Uncle Taylor's
11, Rainy and Foggy all day, did not send to school.
12, Cool and windy- Burnt white stone. Went in evening to Capt Burnley's, left some moulds &c for Flannel waistcoat.
13 [SUNDAY] Reuben Taylor & his son, Billy, walked here and dined- Absalom brought a coat for my father from Fredericksburg-
14, Went to School house, dined at home.
15, C.Taylor breakfasted here- G.C.Taylor got home, said J.Taylor jr of Caroline & John Taylor came up last night- G.Taylor & I went to Uncle Taylor's. Hub'd Taylor, his family, his bro'r James & sister Nancy, John Taylor, Robt Taylor & family & bro'r James dined there.
16, Rained in the night and a good deal to-day-
17, Rained some & Cloudy.
18, Fine warm day, 5 young Turnkeys hatched-
19, Sent & got a Pear tree, some Asparagus roots & Beargrass from H.Taylor & planted. Reu Taylor came here, we had a Hare hunt. Capt Burnley & Jno Burnley joined us and dined here.
20, [SUNDAY] Showed most of the day- went to Hub'd Taylor's- Uncle Taylor & family, Reu Taylor & do. J.Taylor & son, Chas Taylor dined. J.Taylor jr of Caroline & sister there. Dicky & Colby went to C.Taylor's. Baldwin came up for the boys, he came from home yesterday and got to Reu Taylor's
21, Cloudy and snowed a little.
