The Hertford County Agricultural Society met yester
day in the Court House in this place, Winton
according to last adjounment as it was thought,
but the record should read Friday this day.
Considerable members met because notified by ad-
vertisement to do. Many however were absent
doubtless because next Friday was the day last
designated. The Society however came to order and
went into buisness. In calling the vote, the ques-
tion rose were absentees blocked to attend this me
eting. They were not of course. At the last
meeting, the first Friday in April, there was not
a quorum. So they adjourned till the next meeting
designating however the [Lad?] instead of the first
Friday in June. Now the Soceity had establis-
hed the first Friday as the meeting day. The
question there now was, could a meeting less
than a quorum after an established day of
the Society. Of course it could not. This there-
fore, the first Friday being the regular day
we could proceed to business but absentees were
not bound to attend to day as manifestly ap
-pears.

The Society determined to have an anniversary
celebration of the first year of the Society's exis-
tence on the Thursday 11 th of August next by
a public [dinner] on address. Arrangements were
accordingly made for this important event
Considerable money was subscribed, a Committee
of arrangements appointed, and a Committee
to select some suitable man to deliver the ad-
dress. It is hoped that affair will prove auspic-
-ious to the welfare of the Society and be hugely
creditable to the County.
