Friday Feb 1st [1856?)
Dear Cousin
I thought best to write you a few
lines to let you know how Dear Appy is thinking
You would [???] more on my judgement in relation
to her case than the girls on last Tuesday. About
ten oclock the measels made there apearance on her.
She was quite sick that night and on Wednesday
until evening when she seemed better and has
continued to improve ever since. I stayed with her
last night so that Georgie and Florence may go
to Mrs Wearing party. I think in two days [more?]
Appy will be up. She is very careful of herself and
Bears it better than I expected. Her cough is very
much better. I think you need not feel uneasy
about her. If I thought she was in any danger I
would tell you painly so that so that you may come over
and if I should see any change for the worst I will
let you know at once. I will be with her as often
as I can. I do wish she had come to me instead of going
to the [Hotell?] when she found herself sick. I could
have been more with her. I hope Dear Cousin
you will excuse this short note. Give my love
to Butler and [Floyd?] and except the same from
your ever Devoted Cousin A
