decline you may look out for a fall in slaves in that case you must keep a bright lookout I will do the best I can for all conserned & hope to [?] a reasonable profits the prices are here as I can take by the Traders for fellows from 8 to 9 hundred dollars & have an Idea that it will be best to sell for these prices when we can get it and not run the resque of a further decline for should cotton get down to the old price slaves will certainly fall in this and the Miss. market The Kentucky was flacking down like winters hail before I left Natchez & selling those best field hand Girls at $600 & from 8 to 850 for men give me your views & say had we not better sell for those prices than to hold on and run the resque of a further decline let me hear from you frequently As usual ADIEU Isaac Franklin

Natchez Nov 14th 1833 R C Ballard Esqr D Rice Uncle Isaac arrival arrived night before last without having sold one of the lot & what is worst than all had four or five cases of Cholera Since which time have lost two of Cholera one of yours Jack Perrin & one of ours & have some 3 or 4 cases at present and Several complaining have not sold any & I am affraid we shall not unless at reduced price & if that be the case we are gone suckers at those high prices in Va Cotton only 13 to 14¢ which makes negroes dull I remain yr most &c In haste I R Franklin

Mssrs RC Ballard & Co Gent You will please find inclosed I B [Perraults?] two duplicate checks in your fav cashr of Union Bank of Louisiana dated Nov 7th 1833 to [Walter?] Mead Esq cash Merchants Bank New York one No 2177 for Five Thousand dollars & second No 2167 for Fifteen thousand dollars Original of which was inclosed from New Orleans on 7th Inst
