Rice Ballard Esqr

Dear Sir

I received your favour of in relation to making a Levee on the land in Warren County & intended to have the Levee made, but the decision of the Supreme Court against the Commercial Bank about the time your Letter was recd prevented my doing so, and I feel it my duty to inform you, as you are no doubt expecting me to attend to it -

The Assets of the Commercial Bank have been all surrendered to William Robertson Esqr the Trustee appointed by the Court & perhaps some arrangement may be made to make the Levee on the property which is held in my name, but as I cannot carry it on at once as you expected I feel it a duty as stated above to inform you, that you may not be disappointed

Yours very respectfully Thos Henderson

Dear Col

I was at your plantation yesterday and found all well, the crop has improved very much since you left, it is growing and making very fast, Case was pulling fodder yesterday and I had a good chance to see the corn in upper field it is as you no doubts expected very short he says however the hill field is much better, Case I think has managed very well with One exception he whiped entirely too sereve, I talked to him about it for some time but to no purpose I then wrote to Judge Boyd and when he come up he talked to him and Since he left every thing is going on well and quietly, I have no doubt every thing will be done that can be,

there is nothing new here the county very healthy- you will all have to come to this County, for health after a few years more, I expected to have heard from you before this time.

Yours truly,

C. Steele
