[care W&C Fellows & Co.] New Orleans 30 May '53
Col. R. C. Ballard
Louisville Ky
Dr Sir Yours of 24th. inst. is to
hand with Green & [Crunts?] of $1200.-. You
say that Crunt had paid you $100.-. This leaves
in our mind the idea that you thought the price
of Adam was $1300-. The letter of 20th. inst. stated
it $1350- which was right. We write Mr [Crunt?]
on the subject to day - as we take it for granted
you have left for Ky. The writer expects to
see you soon in Ky & will take your sales &c
along with him.
Yr. Ob. St,
Nalle Cox & Co
P.S. Since the above we have learned that the
boy "Adam" is in Jail at Natchez & have written
to Heisenbuttle on the subject as Judge Boyd
is in Jackson. How in the world could
this have happened?
