Elk June 2nd 1853 Col R.C. Ballard Dear Sir I wrote you A few lines and only a few as there is a gentlemen now waiting on me to carry my letter to the post office my corn & cotton is both in fine fit and is doing very well I am now over my cotton the third time with the hoes I impose I have some blown but have not seen any yet the negros are all well except Frank who has the [putsic?] sore throat and has been confined for some time I am very well my self Respectfully yours Robert F Morgan

Outpost June 6 the 1853 [Louisville, Ky] Col. R. C. Ballard Dear sir I am sory to Inform you that John Lowcus deceast on Friday Laste, and th child of Nedes that mr,, Cockes had deceastd I think I mention it in my Last leter to you. Jim the new Boy,, Amanda, Adam,, have had disentery for severl dayes But ar Beter to day then tha have Isack anderson has Bin sick all this weak But is geting well,, I finisht plowing my corne and planting peas yesterday I have plow and howed all of my coton over cince you was with us and have comence gowing ove it a gaine the forth time I have the Bodey of the sick house aup and will finish it in a few dayes, I am geting on slow with my work the gin Bothers me now litl 1st Handes Bin their 3 dayes and the Lower story is Raisd the uper story will Bee Raised on tusday next, the Capten is still complaning
