Louisville, November, 8., 1853., [Warrenton, Miss.] My dear husband, It has been but a short time since I last wrote you but in reply to your affectionate letter I with much pleasure write again if it is only to say how we all are We have so far kept purfectly healthy The children are very hardy and look as if nothing could hurt them They were delighted to hear that Papa was going to send them some good things and talk of it constantly and they will look anxiously until they come Charlotte asked me the other day if it was not time for Papa to come home She talks and thinks of you a good deal how much I wish she was a boy and then you could have her with you I think she loves you more than either of the others or rather she shows it more The weather has taken quite a sudden change within two or three days and I fear will occtation us all
