Wednesday The 9th July 1856 Finished Cutting
Oats to day We made 1401 Dox Large
Ties 1034 Doz in the field East of the meadow
and 367 Doz in the Cherry orchard 50 Acres in
Oats this year rather short but good
otherwise We had a storm The 1 July
that Blowed our oaats down. So that
we suppose we lost 200 Doz in the crop
Thursday the 10 July 1856 Run 6 plows all day
Friday the 11 July 1856 Finished plowing our corn
we plowed it all four times it looks well
plowed & hoed our Sweet Potatoes & cabbage
Saturday the 12th July The negroes Heved & plowed
their corn patches Heved our Sweet potatoes
& cabbage He
Monday the 14th July 1856 Halled in 6 loads
oats but it was rather wet We mowed
in field along the Branch the bal of the day
Tuesday the 15 July finished mowing along
the Branch & mowed some in the lower
end of the Big meadow
Heatful day this year Ther 97 Deg
Wednesday the 16 July 1856 Holden Smith
Dr WIseman & myself bought a [Skeek?]
Tharshing machine we put it up and
Thrashed our white wheat to day 171
Doz & 75 on 5 Acres Bushels Francis Started to
Chapel Heill to day verry warm
Ther stands at 95 Deg
Thursday the 17th July 1856 Hallled oats with
one waggon and Hay with the other
Friday the 18th July 1856 Halled Oats all day
