Tuesday the 29 July 1856 mowed in the forenoon finished
the Shop meadow and commenced in the cassel
meadow in the after noon it rained [????light]
Showers wet the ground perhaps 2 in deep went
to macksville to day to hear the candidates for Gov Speak
Brag & & Gilmer

Wednesday the 30 July 1856 mowed in the cassel meadow
& halled in hay verry hot to day rain all dried up
that fell yesterday and our corn looks nearly as bad
as before the rain if it dont rain Soon we cant
make corn Ther at 98 Deg the hottest
day we have had this Summer

Thursday the 31 July 1856 Finished mowing
to day verry warm & Dry Ther 97

Friday the 1st August 1856 Commenced
Sprouting & cleaning off the Clover field
West of my Barn to sow it in wheat
It has been laid idle for 8 or 10 years and
has washed into Gullys and there being
Some Two Thousand wagon Loads of
Rocks and a great deal of Brush Stunos
&c on it we are halling Rocks Brush
& stumps and Throwing in the Gullys and
I think we will Stop all of them in a
few years verry warm no rain yet

Saturday the 2nd August 1856 Hawling Rock & brush
& clearing off the Wheat Land hot & dry

Monday the 4th August 1856 Worked as we did
on Saturday in the evening we had a fine
Shower of Rain not enough for a [season?]
wet the ground 2 in or more Foster is sick
& not at work

Wednesday th 6 July 1856
Dug our Irish potatoes they are verry
[sorry?] 40 Bu on 3/4 of an acre
