Friday the 8th August 1856 Sowed our
potatoe patch in Turnip Seed to day
Still verry Dry & cool
Tuesday the 12th August 1856 Rained Several
good Showers this eveing and during The night
The ground is we enough to plow the first
Season we have had since the 1st day of July
Thursday the 13th July 1856 Commenced plowing
our wheat Land in the pasture by the Barn
with 3 plows
Saturday the 15th Aug 1856 plowed all day with 3 Team
plows & Sowed about 3/4 of an Acre in Turnip
Seed in the far end of the barn field near
the Branch
Tuesday the 19th August 1856 Sowed
another 3/4 of an acre in Turnip seed
in the Branch Bottom in Barn field
in the eveming we had a verry hard Rain
made the ground too wet to plow
Wednesday the 20 Aug 1856 plowed all day
with 3 plows run on wagon halling Brush
in the Gullys & Two hands Grubbing in
far end of Barn field Dan is sick
Saturday the 30th August 1856 been plowing with
2 Team plows all the week until yesterday
the ground got tooo dry we stoped & went to
Halling rails George has been Thrashing
Wheat at Dr Wisemans & [?] & James all this week
Monday the 1st Sept 1856 North East Storm
of Wind & Rain Commenced yesterday morning and is
Still Blowing & Raining Blowed our corn
down verry bad & some of our peach Trees & Shade
trees
