Teusday the 2nd Septr 1856 Stoped raining yesterday
noon and we plowed to day in some rocky &
Rooty Ground with the Scuters where we are aiming
to sow Wheat at noon we commenced Turning
our Stubble with 3 Turnplows

Thursday the 4th Septr 1856 Still running 3 Turn
plows & one Scuter The Scuter is plowing the
rocky places where we can plow with the
Turn plows Some day I intend to hawl these
rocks off so they will not be in the way
Foster my hired help has been Drunk for Three
days past & got sick His child died Two days
ago and he Drunk & stayed Drunk until it
was buried every body says he is a mean man
and I believe it for I had to send Hiram
North (he started to day) in consequence of his being
Drunk & not attending to my business
Dan is still sick with Dysentary

Friday The 5 Septr 1856 Still plowing with
3 plows the other hands commenced
pulling Fodder to day

Monday The 8th Septr 1856 Stoped plowing
& put all hands to pulling Fodder we are
now ready to Wheat except 1 days plowing
but we are afraid to sow wheat There is
in some of the fields millions of worms
called [srny?] worms they are about like a
cabbage worm but rather larger & Darker
they eat all the Grass where they go & the fields
look like winter time there is not many
on my farm but some of the neighbours
farms are entirely eat out.

Wednesday the 10th Septr 1856 got so
much fodder down we stoped & commencd
cutting off the corn & [shocking?] it up in the field
