Thursday the 22 Jany 1857 Still cold the Snow not melted any Ther this morning one Deg below zero

Friday the 23 Jany 1857 verry cold all day Snow not melted any to day Ther this morning 5 Deg below zero

Saturday 24th January 1857 quite cold Ther 5 Deg above zero

Tuesday The 27 Jany 1857 Turned warmer and in the Evening commenced raining Slow & Kept on all night Ther 35

Thirsday the 29 Jany 1857 raned until noon yesterday & stoped the Snow melts verry slow piled up yet in some places 4 to 6 ft deep the mill Lane is impasable the Snow being 4 to 6 ft deep they are going through my fields to get to the mill the roads are almost impassable in some places the mud is so deep Killed a Beef to day weighing 742 nett lbs his hide weighed 90 lbs Fallow 30 lbs Amounting to $44.33 in all the beef at 5 cts hide 64 cts & Fallow 12 1/2 cts lb we have been feeding him since the 1st of Novr it was a Bull 6 years old Short horn (Sambo) that took the preniun on Short horns at the Fair in the fall

Friday 30th January 1857 Commenced Snowing about 8 oClock this morning Ther at 35 but went down to 31 by 2 oclock and then commenced Hailing & hailed until night it then rained & sleeted all night the snow hail & sleet is 3 or 4 in deep the trees loaded with ice Terrible bad getting about

Saturday the 31 Jany 1857 Cleaned up the bal of our wheat to day we made in all 474 Bu wheat last year

Tuesday the 3rd Feby 1857 clear & warm yesterday & to day the snow is melting fast

Thursday the 5 Feby 1857 warm yesterday & to day the snow is all gone but in the drifts thatis two feet deep in some places been chopping this week it is said to be the muddiest time ever seen the roads are nearly impasable and the fields so wet we cant walk through them without miring

Friday the 6 Feby 1857 still warm and commenced raining at 10 ock to day farmed all day cleared off cold

Friday the 13th Feby 1857 been quite cold for the last four days turned warm last night & rained moderately until noon & stoped

Saturday the 14th Feby 1857 cleared off at noon to day verry nice weather yesterday & to day we cleared the manure from the stables and put it up in pens a layer of manure a layer of rich earth and a layer of chorcoal dust alternately but the manure was put the thickest say the manure 6 in thick the coal dust & rich earth each about [7?] in thick

Wednesday the 18th Feby 1857 Been fencing at [?] 3 days got done have 120 Acres fenced in for sheep pasture& 10 Acres for corn Been verry warm for four days to day the Yther was at 83Degrs Commenced gardening yesterday warm and Spring like weather the ground nearly dry enough to plow

Thursday the 19th Feby 1857 verry warm & fine weather Commenced sowing oats today in the young Orchard starteed Two Turn plow

Breakiing uh Cow land in the corner next to taterns sowed 10g rehaul or Beordlys Berley today in the potatoe patch there was 882 grains sowed in 10 sows about 10 gds foris 1 ft a liart in the sows + Hin in the drill verry Warm

Saturday the 21 Feby 1859 sowed about one gal of Poland oat broad Cast in the potaoe patch today planted 2 Bee Grish potatoes sowed oat, + plowed as yesterday in spring the oats made & Bu seed which I am going to jam dreissy

Monday the 23rd Feby 1857 some books this morning a slight front but verry fine weather sowing oats with H Plows + ruming a turn plows breaking corn land ground in fine order

Thursday The 26 Feby 1857 Reuied a fight shower yesterday Cleaned off luaws to day Started forth to day goods

Wednesday the 11 March 1857 Finished sowing Oats to day The Gray Mar had a colt to day array horse selins

Saturday 14th March 1857 Relarued from the Month to day + find it has been cold for the last Year needs it Billedall The Oats That had come up Filled the Wheat in many places into The ground beet Hee most of the uleal 4 oats will come and again The[llegible] Thursday musht if Should ehaut [illegible] iu deeb every Tluey look like weates yet

Saturday the 21st March 1859 been cold+ disagreeable all the week done no plowing this week been at work in our new ground Splitting wood + rails + halling with 2 wragons to day the was more moderate + begins to look like spring

Monday The 23rd March 1857 Commenced breaking corn ground again with 3 Two horse Turn plows we have Broke up the The Cassel fields 40 Acres + commenced in the field East of the Big Meadow along the Mud Road There is 30 Acres in that field we have also plowed 10 or 19 Acres in the field by the pump there is 40 Acres in That field making 110 Acres to plant in Corn quite Spring like weather to day + yesTerday

Wednesday The 25th March 1859 Still plowing with 3 plows the ballance of the hands are filling up Blind Ditches, I had a ditch 25 Rods, cut in feild East of the store at the upper end of the meadow to drain a low place in the field

I Also cut a ditch in the lot by the Blacksmith shop on the west of the road we cut it across the road and made several Arms to it so as to drain all the low places, in all about 30 rods filled up with rocks + Brash on top then dirt it drains + dries the Ground nicely We got don all to day and went to halling Manure on the lot

peach Blooms are [just?] full blown fine March weather rather too windy Finished planting Irish potatoes we planted 10 Bu in all

Wednesday 1 Aprl 1857 quite Cold yesterday + to day Ground froze + plenty of frost killed the most of the peaches plums + cherrys been plowing got done the field by pump the Ground rather too dry to plow Commenced Listing with 3 plows an 29 March
