Read and referred to a committee consisting of Mr. Haywood, Mr. Williams and Mr. Polk.
Mr. Johnston to whom was referred the accounts of Mr. Folcherner, determined the same and reported that the sums therein stated were due by the Trustees to John Hamilton, upon which it was resolved that the Treasurer draw orders on Mr. Hill, the Attorney of the Board for the District of Edenton, in favour of Mr. Hamilton for the sum of £22.4.8.
On motion of Mr. Davis it was resolved that the Committee to whom was referred the Report of the Treasurer, also take into consideration the annual expenses of the University and what arrangements on that subject are necessary — —
In consequence of the necessary removal of Mr. Benj. Hawkins from this State;
Resolved that the Honble Judge Haywood be and he is hereby appointed a Trustee of the University of North-Carolina for the District of Halifax.
On addition of Mr. Polk it was resolved that the Secretary enquire of Mr. Newman and Wm. of Wilmington District whither they intend hereafter to consider themselves as

A letter from Mr. Joseph Caldwell, Professor of Mathematics in the University, was read and referred to the committee on the Treasurer’s Report.
On motion of Mr. Polk it was resolved that Mr. Stone and Mr. Hill be added to the committee on the Treasurer’s Report.
On motion of Mr. Davis it was resolved that Mr. Taylor be added to the committee on the Report of the Principal of the University.
On motion of Mr. Davis it was resolved that an address be presented to the Legislature requesting such amendment to the Act incorporating the Trustees as would authorize an additional number of Trustees; whereupon Mr. Johnston, Mr. Stone, Mr. Little and Mr. Polk were appointed a committee to draw up the same.
On this evening Mr. Ashe’s resignation as Trustee from the District of Wilmington was accepted by the Board, whereupon Resolved that Mr. Alexander Duncan Moore be and he is hereby appointed a Trustee of the University of North-Carolina.

The Board then adjourned until Friday evening 5 O'clock.

The Board met according to adjournment.
Present: Mr. Johnston, President Pro Tem; Mr. Davis, Mr. Haywood, Mr. Polk, Mr. Stone, Mr. Hayes, Mr. Moore, The Treasurer.
On motion made by Mr. Davis it was resolved that Mr. Polk, Mr. Moore, Mr. Haywood and Mr. Stone be a Committee to secure Professors for the Scholarships.
Mr. Pleasant Henderson, the Steward, appeared and submitted certain papers and communications to the Board relative to the Stewardship which were referred to the above Committee.
The Board then adjourned until Monday evening 5 O'clock.

The Board met according to adjournment.
Present: Mr. Johnston, President Pro Tem; Mr. Davis, Mr. Polk, Mr. Alexander, Mr. Moore of Salisbury, Mr. Williams, Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Little, Mr. Stone, Mr. Hayes, Mr. Haywood, Mr. Lenoir, Mr. Moore, The Treasurer.
Mr. Alexander D. Moore appeared for the first time and took his seat as a member of the Board. The Board then proceeded to the election of a President when His Excellency Gov. Davis was unanimously chosen.
The Report of the Committee appointed to take into consideration the annual Report of the Principal Professor in the University was read and perfectly concurred with by the Board except the Resolution marked It which was laid over until the next annual meeting for further consideration.
Resolved that the Clerk of the Board be authorized and directed to execute to Mr. Williams Attorney for the Trustees for the District of Hillsboro a letter of Attorney empowering him to convey to Mr. George Elliot certain Lands for which compromise has been made, in fee simple, upon the said Elliot’s performing the conditions of the said compromise.
