NORTH CAROLINA STATE

Chancellor Caldwell presented the following report and "B" Budget Request for North Carolina State, and they were, on motion of Mrs. Lathrop, duly seconded, unanimously approved:

Appointments:

Jack Vernon Baird, as Extension Associate Professor of Soil Science, at annual salary of $12,000 for twelve months from Extension funds, effective July 1, 1964. This is a replacement for W. C. White. Born, 1928 Grand Island, Nebraska. Married. Three children. Education: B.Sc. 1945, M.Sc. 1951, University of Nebraska; Ph.D. 1955, Washington State University. Experience: Graduate Research Assistant, Washington State University 1951-55; Trainee, Officers' Candidate School, Newport, R.I., 1955; Commissioned Officer, U. S. Navy 1955-58; Extension Soils Specialist, University of Illinois 1958-60; Extension Agronomist, Kansas State University 1961-. Interviewed by: Dean Harry C. Kelly.
