In the name of God Amen the , I Alexander Gregory of the State of North Carolina in the County of Cumberland planter being weakly sickly and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and [recommend] my soul into the hands of God that gave all, and for my body I recommend in the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bleſs me in this life I give and devise one dispose of the same in the manner and forms following, that is to say—
In the first place I give and bequeath to Catharine by dearly beloved wife the House and plantation wherein I now live during her natural Life, also I give unto her her Heirs and aſsigns forever a Negro fellow named Bob, Old Jane and little Jane with all her children that she has had, or that she may have, also a Girl named Cate the child of Peg or Lucy, the said negroes with their [increase] to her and her Heirs forever, together with all the House hold furniture, plantation tools, and all my Horses Cattle and Hogs Sheep and Stock of every Kind to her and her Heirs—
Item I give and bequeath unto my three nephews by the names of Alexander McGregors each residing in the City of Glasgow in North Britain sons of my three brothers Robert Daniel and Malcom McGregors, or either or all of them {that}
that will come to this Country for the same, the plantation where I now live, after my wifes death, and all the lands I poſseſs the whole being near four hundred acres, and also one negro woman named Lucy or Peg with two children named Mary and Jack together the said Negroes and their increase to my above named three nephews, or either of them that will come to this Country———
I also consitute make ordain and appoint, together with my wife, William Gibson and William Phillips Executors of this my last will and Testament, I also revoke and disannul all former Testments and wills, comfirming this and no other as my last will—In witneſs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the date above written

On the day of the date of the [within] the deceased Alexander Gregory devised me to write the written will and dictated the manner of the Legacies to me in which they stand, and after I had wrote the will, he was willing and desirous to sign and execute the same, but it was put off by me 'till another time for want of Evidence.

Deed 19 th October 1793, by the following [??] towit: Alfred Moor, John Haywood, William Richardsen David & Alexander Mebane Esquires on behalf of the Trustees of the University of North Carolina & Andrew Burk of HIllsborough Mercht., witneseth that said A. Moor or [??] aforsaid By virtue of [??] and authority to them given by an ordiance of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina made on the eight (80 day of December 1791, "[??]," An ordinance fro appointing [??] to erect buildings of the University and to lay out a town adjacent thereto" & for the consideration of seventy fie (75) pounds of the currency of the state of North Carolina, do convey one lot of four acres of ground in the town adjacent to the Buildings of the Universityin Orange County; the said lot being called a square lying street & numbered six (6) in the plan of said town.
